Planning tours from Casablanca starts with three things: your landing time, how many days you have, and the city you fly home from. Casablanca is where many international flights land, so it is a natural place to start a trip. Our private Morocco tours from Casablanca begin at the airport or your hotel and run for 4, 7, 10 or 14 days, with the Sahara at Merzouga as the heart of every route. Most end in Marrakech, so you can fly home from there.

For general travel information, visa basics and regional ideas before you arrive, the Moroccan National Tourist Office website is a useful official starting point.
Before you choose, one honest fact: the desert is a long way from Casablanca. This page explains the distances, how arrival day works, and which length suits your plans.
How far is the Sahara from Casablanca?
The dunes of Erg Chebbi, near Merzouga, are roughly 750 km from Casablanca by road via Fes. That is about 11–12 hours of pure driving, before stops — too much for one day.
| Leg | Approx. distance | Approx. driving time |
|---|---|---|
| Casablanca → Rabat | — | ~1 h |
| Casablanca → Fes | ~290 km | ~3.5 h |
| Fes → Merzouga | ~460 km | 7.5–8.5 h |
| Merzouga → Dades Valley (via Todra) | ~280 km | ~5 h |
| Dades → Marrakech | ~320–350 km | 6–7 h |
Estimates only; real times depend on stops, weather and road works.
What this means for you:
- Four days is the minimum we recommend from Casablanca if you want to reach the Sahara and finish in Marrakech. Shorter trips mean more driving than seeing.
- Seven days or more lets you add Chefchaouen, a proper day in Fes, and a slower pace.
- Very short on time? Consider flying from Casablanca to Errachidia, about 2 hours’ drive from Merzouga, and joining one of our Errachidia desert tours [CONFIRM current flight schedule].
Choose the length of your tours from Casablanca
| Tour | Days / nights | Route | Desert nights | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4-day Casablanca to Marrakech desert tour | 4 / 3 | Casablanca → Fes → Merzouga → Dades → Marrakech | 1 | The fastest crossing to the Sahara; Fes as an overnight only |
| 7-day Morocco itinerary from Casablanca | 7 / 6 | + Rabat, Chefchaouen, Volubilis, guided Fes day | 1 | First-timers with one week; only one very long drive |
| 10-day Morocco itinerary from Casablanca | 10 / 9 | + Rabat night, full Chefchaouen day, Meknes | 2 | More time in the desert and the north |
| 2-week Morocco itinerary from Casablanca | 14 / 13 | + Fes free day, Ouarzazate night, Marrakech and Essaouira | 2 | Long stays with rest days and a coastal finish |
Prices for all tours: from €520 per person (2 travellers), depending on group size, season and accommodation level. Each tour page shows a price table.
Other lengths: 5, 6, 8, 9 and 11–13 days
We do not publish separate pages for every length, but we plan them all the time. Common variations:
- 5 days: the 4-day route plus a guided day in Fes, or a second night in the desert.
- 6 days: add Chefchaouen to the 4-day route.
- 8–9 days: the 7-day itinerary with a second desert night, or a night in Ouarzazate.
- 11–13 days: the 10-day route plus Essaouira, extra time in Marrakech, or a return to Casablanca.
Tell us your number of days and we will suggest a route.

Arriving at Casablanca airport: how pick-up works
Most of our Casablanca tours start at Mohammed V International Airport (CMN), about [CONFIRM — roughly 30–45 minutes] south of the city centre.
- Send your flight number when you book. We track delays.
- Meet your driver in arrivals. He waits with a sign showing your name [CONFIRM exact meeting point].
- Change money or use an ATM in the arrivals hall before you leave — you need dirhams for lunches and tips on the road.
- Get a local SIM or eSIM if you want mobile data; it makes WhatsApp contact with your driver easy [CONFIRM — optional advice only].
- Set off. On most tours you head straight towards Rabat, Fes or Chefchaouen.
What if my flight lands late?
If you land after about [CONFIRM latest arrival time], we recommend a first night in Casablanca and starting the next morning. Driving 3–5 hours after a long-haul flight is not a good start to a holiday. We can book a hotel near the airport or in the city [CONFIRM — arranged by us or by you; cost].
Can we start from a Casablanca hotel instead?
Yes. If you arrive a day or two early, we collect you from your hotel or riad in Casablanca at an agreed time.
Should you visit the Hassan II Mosque?
The Hassan II Mosque, on the seafront, is one of the few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors — but only on guided tours at set times [CONFIRM current visit times, days and ticket price]. It is usually closed to tourists during Friday prayers.
On our tours, a visit is possible only if your arrival time and the tour schedule allow. On the 10-day and 2-week itineraries, the short first day makes this easier. On the 4-day tour, adding the mosque means arriving later in Fes. Ask us when you send your flight details.
Where do tours from Casablanca finish?
Most routes end in Marrakech, which has many international flights, so you avoid driving back to Casablanca. If your return flight leaves from Casablanca, we can finish there instead — Marrakech to Casablanca is roughly a 3-hour drive [CONFIRM price]. The 2-week itinerary can end at either airport [CONFIRM].
Is Casablanca the right place to start?
Start in Casablanca if: – Your flight already lands there (it is Morocco’s largest international hub) – You want to see Rabat and Chefchaouen on the way – You are flying on an open-jaw ticket, into Casablanca and out of Marrakech
Consider another start if: – You can easily fly into Marrakech or Fes — both are closer to the desert. See all our private Morocco tours – You are coming by ferry from Spain — start in Tangier with our tours from Tangier to the Sahara
How our tours from Casablanca work
All tours on this page are private: your own air-conditioned 4×4 or minibus and an English-speaking driver. Each party travels alone, stops when it likes, and sleeps in private rooms and a private desert tent with its own shower and toilet. [CONFIRM whether any shared small-group departures start from Casablanca.] Not sure which style suits you? Read private vs shared desert tours.
Every tour includes pick-up, the vehicle with fuel and taxes, the driver, accommodation, breakfast and dinner on tour nights [CONFIRM city-night dinners], the camel ride into Erg Chebbi and a night at our desert camp. Lunches are not included.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to drive from Casablanca to the Sahara?
Around 11–12 hours of driving in total via Fes, which is why we split it over two days, with a night in Fes or further north. Some travellers fly to Errachidia instead to save time.
Can you pick us up from Casablanca airport if our flight is delayed?
Yes. We follow your flight number, so your driver adjusts to the real landing time [CONFIRM]. If the delay is long, we may change the first day’s plan — for example, skipping the Rabat stop or adding a Casablanca night.
Is there a 2- or 3-day desert tour from Casablanca?
We do not recommend it. Reaching the dunes and coming back in 2–3 days would mean around 20+ hours in the vehicle. If you have only three days, it is better to fly to Errachidia or start from Fes or Marrakech.
Should we spend a day in Casablanca itself?
Many travellers find one visit to the Hassan II Mosque and the seafront enough. If you are curious about modern Morocco, art deco architecture and the Corniche, a free day before your tour is pleasant — but most of the country’s highlights are elsewhere.
Can we finish the tour back in Casablanca?
Yes, any route can end in Casablanca. It adds about 3 hours of driving from Marrakech, so we suggest an evening flight or an extra night [CONFIRM price].
Can you build a tour for a length not listed here?
Yes. We plan 5, 6, 8, 9 and 11–13-day trips on request. Tell us your dates and interests.
Do you speak French as well as English?
Our team works mainly in English, and French is also spoken [CONFIRM driver language availability]. Let us know your preferred language when you ask for a quote.

Your first day after landing
Arrival day sets the tone for the whole trip, so we plan it carefully on all our tours from Casablanca. A typical first day on the 7-day route looks like this (times are approximate):
- Morning [CONFIRM]: your driver meets you in arrivals at Mohammed V airport, or at your hotel.
- Late morning: Hassan II Mosque, if visiting times and your flight allow, or a short photo stop outside.
- Lunch: in Rabat, at your own cost.
- Early afternoon: a short visit in Rabat, then the drive north through farmland.
- Early evening: arrival in Chefchaouen, with time for a first walk in the blue lanes.
On the 4-day tour, the first evening is in Fes instead, and the stops on the way are shorter.
Planning around your flights
Flight times shape the first and last days more than anything else. Here is how we suggest you plan:
- Morning landing: on most tours from Casablanca you can start the same day.
- Afternoon or evening landing: spend the first night in Casablanca and start fresh the next morning. Long-haul jet lag and a mountain road are a poor mix.
- Open-jaw ticket: flying into Casablanca and out of Marrakech suits our tours from Casablanca well, because most routes end in Marrakech.
- Return from Casablanca: possible on any route, but the drive back from Marrakech adds about 3 hours, so an evening flight or an extra night is wiser.
Send us both flight numbers when you ask for a quote, and we will shape the first and last days around them.
Which length suits which traveller
First-time visitors
For a first visit, the 7-day route is the best balance among our tours from Casablanca. You see Rabat, Chefchaouen, a guided day in Fes, the Sahara and Marrakech, with only one very long driving day.
Families with children
Long drives are hard for young children. The 10-day and 2-week itineraries are the most relaxed tours from Casablanca, with rest days and more nights in the same place. Tell us your children’s ages so we can plan breaks and car seats [CONFIRM availability].
Short on time
If four days is all you have, the 4-day Casablanca to Marrakech tour reaches the dunes, but Fes is an overnight stop only. Flying to Errachidia may suit you better if you only want the desert.
Repeat visitors
If you already know Marrakech and Fes, ask us for longer tours from Casablanca that spend more time in quiet places, such as a second desert night or a slower route through the Draa Valley.
How a day on the road works
Each day follows a simple pattern. You leave after breakfast, drive for an hour or two, then stop for a visit, a viewpoint or coffee. Lunch is usually in a town on the route, at a restaurant your driver knows, and you pay for it directly.
Your driver is not a licensed city guide, so in Fes, and on request in Marrakech, a local guide joins you for the medina [CONFIRM which guides are included]. On private tours from Casablanca you can ask for extra stops at any time; your driver will tell you honestly how much time each one adds.
Evenings are free. Most travellers have dinner at their riad or hotel and go to bed early before the next day’s drive.
Packing for a north-to-south route
Tours from Casablanca can cover the cool Rif mountains, the Middle Atlas and the Sahara in a few days. Pack for all three:
- Layers: evenings in Chefchaouen and Ifrane can be cool even in spring, and desert nights are cold in winter.
- Modest clothing: covering shoulders and knees for the Hassan II Mosque and conservative towns; a scarf for women visiting the mosque.
- Walking shoes: Fes and Chefchaouen are steep and cobbled.
- Small overnight bag for the desert camp; your main luggage stays behind.
- Sun protection: hat, sunglasses and sunscreen, all year round.
Everyday practicalities
Most small costs on tours from Casablanca are paid in cash: lunches, drinks, tips and some entry tickets. Change some money or use an ATM in the arrivals hall, because card machines are rare on rural roads.
A local SIM or eSIM makes it easy to message your driver on WhatsApp [CONFIRM — optional advice only]. Tap water is not recommended for most visitors; bottled water is easy to buy. Vegetarian and vegan meals can be arranged on request.
Seasonal notes
- Spring and autumn: the most comfortable seasons for tours from Casablanca, with mild days along the whole route.
- Summer: coastal Casablanca and Rabat stay mild, but the desert is often above 40 °C. Desert activities move to early morning and evening.
- Winter: clear days, cold nights, and possible snow in the Middle Atlas and on the Tichka pass. Routes can change for safety.
- Ramadan: tours from Casablanca run as normal [CONFIRM], but some cafés close during the day and opening hours of sites may change.
More questions about starting in Casablanca
Is Rabat worth a stop?
Yes, if your first day allows. The capital is calm and easy to walk, and a short visit breaks the drive north. On the 7-day and longer tours from Casablanca it is part of the plan; on the 4-day tour it depends on your landing time.
Can we take the train for part of the way?
Some travellers take the train between cities and join a desert tour in Fes or Marrakech. If you prefer that, tell us; we can quote a tour that starts in Fes instead [CONFIRM].
Can we add Essaouira or the Atlantic coast?
Yes. The 2-week itinerary already ends with Essaouira, and we can add the coast to other tours from Casablanca on request. It usually means one or two extra days.
Do you drive at night?
We plan days so that most driving happens in daylight [CONFIRM policy]. That is one reason we suggest a first night in Casablanca after a late landing.
Can we change hotels or upgrade rooms?
Yes. Tell us your preferred level of comfort and any hotels you have in mind, and we will include them in your quote where available [CONFIRM upgrade options].
